Financial audits consist of analyzing the financial status of a landfill in view of
- its short and long term obligations
- the shareholder’s financial expectations
This audit consists of:
- defining current requirements at the level of investment and operations both at the level of operations and aftercare
- forecasting future requirements at the level of investment and operations both at the level of operations and aftercare
- benchmarking capital and operational expenditures
- analysing legally required provisions for eg final capping and aftercare
Financial audits are often presented under the form of a business plan. This business plan includes:
- financial ratios such as return on investment (ROI), return on equity (ROE), payback, net present value (NPV)
- sensitivity analysis of both critical capex and opex
